Olaf cake

This is the birthday cake which I made for my friend's 18th birthday. She loves Disney and the film "Frozen", so when I found the youtuber "cakesbychoppa" and his video of how to decorate a cake to look like Olaf, I thought it was perfect! This is a chocolate cake filled and crumb-coated with milk chocolate ganache. I then shaped the cake following a template, then covered it with fondant icing. I moulded the carrot, eyebrows, eyes and tooth and coloured them with food colouring. I also coloured the mouth with watered down food colouring. Once I had placed everything together, I stuck liquorice straps into the top of the cake to make his hair. My friend really liked this cake which I was so happy about, and I was really pleased with it too! And because I had to shape this cake, I got to taste the remaining bits of cake and ganache, and I was really pleased with it!

Dad's birthday cake

Happy birthday Dad! This is the birthday cake I made for him which is a fruit cake as its his favourite type of cake, (which I made 4 days ago because fruit cake gets better the longer it is left for). I then crumb coated and decorated it with butter icing. I placed chocolate fingers around the side of it, wrote the message in a chocolate pen, and placed fruit on top of it! We all really enjoyed it - even my brother Chris who doesn't like fruit cake at all - and I reckon it will be finished very quickly!

Lemon and Poppyseed cake

I had really wanted to try this cake, and luckily, there was a recipe for it in my British Bake Off book - its becoming very handy. I wasn't that impressed with this cake, I didn't think it was very lemony which I was disappointed with considering the amount of lemon zest which went in it - ah well.

Chocolate marbled cupcakes

These are chocolate cupcakes topped with marbled chocolate and vanilla icing, and chocolate hearts which I made the previous day. I had made the chocolates because I had brought a confectionary magazine which came with the mould. I chose to make chocolate cupcakes because I  had some left over buttermilk from making the scones, and because I had made these before I knew that people liked them. However, there was a bit too much icing so next time I won't pipe so much on top.

Fresh berry scones

These are fresh berry scones I made one Sunday afternoon  when I was a bit bored. They were made with raspberries and blueberries, and me and my family really enjoyed them! This recipe came from my British Bake Off book, and I will be making these again.

Egg custard tarts

I made egg custard tarts when I got home from sixth form today. Again, this recipe was from my Great British Bake Off book. Although some of them collapsed when they came out of the tin, some of these turned out really well. The pastry was lovely and sweet, and I really enjoyed the filling too.

Tea Loaf

This is the tea loaf I made from my Great British Bake Off book. It is filled with cherries, raisins, orange peel and cinnamon. I then decorated it with glace icing. I really enjoyed this, the taste was sweet and the cinnamon really brought out the fruit flavour.
